I Paid N1,000 For A Litre Of Fuel, Somebody Is Responsible For That And It Is Not Funny – Oshiomole
Former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, has narrated how he paid N1,000 for a litre of fuel when he ran out of fuel during his campaign in a community in Edo State. He said that was not funny, and that somebody in the system was responsible for that. He said this during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday night.
He said that Nigeria spends about 7 trillion naira for subsidy, yet most Nigerians find themselves paying much more than what the market rate would be, yet we have the petroleum equalization fund.
He said there has always been an issue of fuel scarcity in the country even during previous administrations, but that does not make it acceptable.
He said – “I was at communities across Edo State, and in one location I ran out of fuel, and I had to pay N1,000 for a litre, that is not funny, somebody is responsible for that…”
Speaking further, he claimed that it is not a coincidence that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) decided to redesign the naira notes at this time.
He said that the new naira notes policy is not a new thing, but that the CBN suddenly woke up and decided to redesign the naira notes without proper consultation within the government.
He said that the Minister of Finance had even warned that there could be economic consequences arising from the new naira notes policy.
